MaryBeth Hughes, M.A.

At the age of 12, MaryBeth began her lifelong involvement with the performing arts. She began as an actor and singer, completing a Bachelors degree in Theatre from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In Chicago, she was able to supplement her theatre experience with modern, tap and jazz dance. During her time at Northwestern, she discovered a small ballroom dance studio and found her new passion. She soon became an avid social dancer and amateur competitor and in 1991 decided to further her training at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

As a graduate student, MaryBeth taught social dance and fitness classes at the university and traveled extensively throughout the western United States and Asia with the BYU Formation Dance Team.

Since moving to San Diego in 1994, MaryBeth has been an active professional competitor, performer, choreographer and teacher in the local dance scene as well as several of the community colleges in the area. She is delighted to bring her experience and enthusiasm of Latin, Ballroom and Swing dance to Pattie Wells Dancetime Center.
