Zumba Fitness Dance

ZUMBA FITNESS starts October 2012!

I. What is it?

The Zumba Fitness is a Latin inspired dance fitness program that incorporates dance moves for different types of music including Latin salsa, merengue, bachata, as well as, pop, rock and other types of contemporary music.

II. Who created it, when, where?

Alberto "Beto" Perez started it by accident in the mid-nineties when he forgot his aerobic music for a class he was teaching and substituted salsa and merengue music using some cool Latin dance moves for the class. Eventually, Beto brought his zumba fitness parties to Miami, Florida and met some other people who joined to form the new Zumba Fitness company in 2001. The term Zumba was trademarked and the brand spread throughout the world. Now, one can find every kind of zumba product including DVD's, clothing, music CD's, accessories plus it has its own video game!

III.  What's going on with Zumba in 2012?

The Zumba is skyrocketing in popularity and is taught in gyms, studios and recreation centers everywhere. There is a  professional organization that certifies Zumba fitness instructors and there are now a variety of zumba courses that fit almost every category including children, seniors, baby boomers, wheel chairs and a aqua zumba.
