The Jitterbug Swing Dance Club meets every Sunday at the Pattie Wells' Dancetime Center. It is the longest ongoing swing dance San Diego party for Jitterbug and East Coast swing.
Originally titled the San Diego Jitterbug Club, this swing dancing party started on March 17, 1984. In the last few years, the numbers of San Diego swing dancers grew to over one hundred people regularly every Sunday with one Sunday reaching 150 dancers. We feature a music mix of 2/3 rd's fast swing music, perfect for single rhythm East Coast swing (jitterbug) and the other 1/3rd a mix of slower swing dancing plus a few slow songs, cha cha's, country western two steps, nightclub two steps and requests. The dancers are a perfect mix of all ages, all levels and the friendliest swing dance venue in San Diego, CA. The jitterbug swing dance party features rotating hosts, deejays and dance instructors from the Pattie Wells' Dancetime Center including Lucky Pahl, David Nguyen and Brandon Detty. Pattie Wells along with her loyal swing dance supporters started the Jitterbug dance party on Sundays and she hosted it for the first twenty years or so.
It has become the home to many Southern Califoria swing dancers including dancers that enjoy Lindy hop, East Coast swing, West Coast swing, jitterbug, Charleston and a variety of other swing dances. Everyone is welcome to join our friendly dance community for fun, fitness and to make new friends.
