Pattie Wells’ DanceTime Center closed its doors on May 15, 2014. Pattie Wells offers only private dance lessons at the present. The Dancetime Center’s, teachers, staff, students and friends have moved, our last classes were April session of classes in April/May 2014. We are now a curator of dance on the internet culling the best of dance on the web at DanceTime Global!
Some of our staff, teachers, friends moved to Dance For 2 studio not far from the Dancetime Center located at 7528 Clairemont Mesa Blvd in Kearny Mesa.
The owner of Dance For 2, Shawn Torgerson, worked at the Pattie Wells’ Dancetime Center starting in 1998 until he opened his own dance studio. The Dance For 2 studio has three ballrooms, plenty of parking, great air conditioning, a friendly staff, great parties, events and showcases.
Shawn has told me that he will honor most of the arrangements we have including “Repeat Passes” for a comparable dance courses for one year. The new location offers private lessons, group classes and dance parties just like the Pattie Wells’ Dancetime Center. Their prices are comparable. I had many meeting with Shawn, our teachers and staff to a smooth transition. Our last class session is the April/May 2014 and our last night of classes will be Friday, May 2, 2014.
Shawn Torgerson – Dance For 2 (Owner)
I (Pattie Wells) am retiring after 37 1/2 years in the dance business and owning and operating a storefront business for 16+ years. I will no longer be teaching classes or organizing parties or events. I am happy to pass on all the responsibilities to the next generation of dance studio owners and organizers! I will continue to teach private dance lessons just to keep a toe in dance.
My plans include taking a break to catch my breath then working on the second half of my novel in progress. I promised my mother, on her deathbed, that I would finish the novel that was inspired by her and our ancestors in Italy. In time, I will be constructing a new website featuring excerpts from my novel, poetry manuscript, Italian poetry translations, blogs and articles.
Also, I will be expanding Dancetime.Com to a global website that is a world dance resource. It will include dance review videos, articles, blogs and worldwide directories from around the globe. It will feature a directory of videos demonstrating short dance pattern reviews of most of the patterns from the major dance genres, dance articles & videos covering all the genres of dance, discussions and more!
In April 2014, the Pattie Wells’ Dancetime Center staff & teachers held our LAST monthly dance parties including Hustle Dance Jam, West Coast Swing 2nd Saturday, Latin Dance Party and Jitterbug Swing Club, plus a semi-retirement Pattie Wells Bon Voyage party, the weekend of May 3rd for all my dance customers, staff and colleagues.
It was bittersweet teaching in our last session of dance classes, March 31st, 2014, seeing all of DanceTime’s dance students at the classes, monthly dance parties and Bon Voyage party. Thanks to everyone who came by and danced with us before we left the Dancetime Center!
GOOD NEWS: We are planning to keep all of our activities going, most of them will move to Dance For 2 Studio, but we may have the opportunity to continue some of them at the Dancetime location (now the Movement Dance Center) on Morena Blvd. as follows.
Dance For 2:
- Most of Dancetime’s dance classes
- Several of Dancetime’s teachers & Independent contractors
- Jitterbug Club San Diego, Sundays, with our favorite deejays including Lucky Pahl, David Nguyen hosting/deejaying the Jitterbug Club on Sundays every 1st & 3rd Sunday.
The Movement Dance Center:
- Monday Westie Practice 8-10 PM
- Sin Nombre Tango Milonga (Fridays) at 10 PM
- West Coast swing 2nd & 3rd Saturdays at the Morena Blvd. location will continue starting in June 2014, hosted and deejayed by some San Diego Westies including Brick Robbins!
What a great joy it has been to be the owner/director of the Pattie Wells’ Dancetime Center. I am blessed to have met so many wonderful people, to have shared my dance knowledge/experience with so many dancers, to have experienced the joy of a friendly dance community and to have worked with such a great staff of people at the Pattie Wells’ Dancetime Center!
All my best to you,
